Chelsea Victoria Clinton
Chelsea Victoria Clinton born in February 27, 1980 is the daughter and only child of former US President Bill Clinton and United States Senator Hillary Clinton. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her name was inspired by her parents' fondness for Judy Collin’s recording of the Joni Mitchell song “Chelsea Morning".
In Arkansas, Chelsea attended Forest Park Elementary School, Booker Arts Magnet Elementary School and Horace Mann Junior High School. While at Booker, she skipped the third grade due to her reportedly high reading level. Later, she attended the Sidwell Friends School. She has made few public comments on her upbringing but has said that her parents were "firm but fair."
Chelsea's relatively quiet life would change, however, when her father was elected president of the United States in 1992. Suddenly the typically awkward adolescent was in the spotlight, her long, frizzy hair and dental braces making her the butt of often hurtful jokes. In 2001, Chelsea delivered her 167-page thesis on the Northern Ireland peace process (for which she interviewed, among others, her father) and set her sights on Britain's Oxford University where would pursue studies in International Relations.
With her mother's trailblazing quest to win the presidency in 2008, the nation could see Chelsea Clinton return to the White House in a very different role, as an occasional visitor or perhaps even a bride at a White House wedding. She recently joined her parents onstage at a campaign fundraiser in Manhattan, but did not address the audience. Hillary Clinton often describes how being a mom has shaped her candidacy. Advisers say Chelsea Clinton probably will step up appearances later in the campaign as she did in 2000, during the closing months of her mother's first Senate race in New York. For now Chelsea is busy with her work at Avenue Capital, a $12 billion New York-based hedge fund run by Marc Lasry, a longtime Clinton donor. Chelsea often is spotted around New York with her boyfriend, Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker and the son of former Democratic Reps. Ed Mezvinsky of Iowa and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky of Pennsylvania.
